A childhood cancer diagnosis turns family life upside down. Parents face overwhelming emotional, financial and practical pressures while caring for their sick child and any siblings. Families experience isolation and anxiety while struggling to navigate complex systems and a new world of long hospital stays and appointments. Without tailored support, these pressures have a long-lasting impact on family relationships, mental wellbeing and the ability to remain strong for the challenges ahead.
Our specialist Support Workers provide personalised support from diagnosis and beyond. Based directly on the hospital wards, they help families cope with hospital life - from making a cup of tea to offering a listening ear. They build close relationships with families, helping them access grants, counselling, and our free trips and activities. We go above and beyond to make sure families feel supported throughout their child's treatment, and for up to three years following the end of treatment.
