People with a learning disability and autistic people are far more likely to face a life of isolation — cut off from the friendships and opportunities that most of us take for granted. Your support helps change that by giving people with additional needs a real chance to build the life they deserve.

Social isolation is a significant challenge facing people with a learning disability (LD) and autistic people. 1 in 3 young people with a LD spend less than 1 hour outside their home on a typical Saturday (Mencap, 2019), autistic people experience loneliness at up to 4 times the rate of non-disabled peers (Swansea University, 2023). This loneliness affects physical and mental health, putting greater strain on parents/carers, pushing families who are already stretched closer to breaking point.

LinkAble tackles isolation head-on by providing a welcoming community where people with a learning disability and autistic people can connect, build friendships, and take part in activities that genuinely enrich their lives. From weekly groups and holiday schemes to days out in the local community, we provide the opportunities and specialist support that make social connection possible — while giving parents and carers the vital break they need to recharge.
