Funding is needed to continue Home-Start Wessex’s vital weekly support for families in local homeless hostels. Sessions provide emotional support, essentials such as food and nappies, play that strengthens child development and bonding while reducing isolation and building confidence and wellbeing.

Homeless families face trauma, poor mental health, abuse, poverty, and isolation. Parents lack confidence and support, and children miss out on stable routines, play, and development. Families are not engaging with each other, services, or the community, leaving them extremely vulnerable.

We have been running family groups for 30 years and provide the skills and experience needed to help these families. Each nurturing group is led by expert staff and trained volunteers. We build trust and encourage all families to join the sessions which are planned based on needs. Emotional support improves mental health and builds resilience to cope with their challenges. We help them access food, other essentials, plus signposting to other support. Children's fun activities bring joy.
