Many Gambians especially in rural communities, are unable to afford healthcare or medicines. AOT has for many years assisted 2 clinics, Wellingara and Jappineh, both are self-reliant, professional organisations, who work in tandem with the Ministry of Health to address an acute need.

The Gambia is amongst the poorest countries in the world. Many people are unable to access or afford medical treatment or medicines. Government clinics frequently run our of supplies and are often overcrowded. There is an urgent need for well trained nurses, midwives and lab assistants to ensure good healthcare e.g. prenatal care, early malaria diagnosis/treatment.

AOT has long experience in assisting these 2 community clinics through the provision of subsidised medicines, lab testing equipment as well as funding midwife and nurse training. AOT also helps with the cost of running an ambulance at the Jappineh clinic, saving many lives. These clinics provide professional and affordable healthcare in communities that desperately need this. Consequently many lives will be saved and illnesses cured through the medicines and equipment bought with your donations.
