In Milton Keynes, there are over 8,500 domestic abuse calls to the police every year. Behind those calls are often women whose lives have been shattered and left severely traumatised. Half the women we support have felt suicidal, and one in three has been sexually abused. One woman told us, “Life was hell. I couldn’t live my life. I was scared.” It’s little wonder homelessness because of domestic abuse is almost twice the national average – for many it’s their only choice to keep children safe.

We’re Milton Keynes’ only charity for women affected by violence and abuse from partners or family members they have trusted. Each year, we help over 1,200 people rebuild their lives through specialist one-to-one and group support, including help with housing, money, court, emotional recovery and family safety. Our 28-family emergency refuge offers a safe place to live, often for the first time in months or years, so women and children can move beyond survival and begin to thrive.
