Homelessness in Watford is, once again, increasing; there is simply not enough affordable accommodation available. People of all ages and backgrounds are finding themselves homeless and in desperate need. That’s where New Hope comes in – we provide life-saving and life-changing support.

Rough sleeping in the Watford area has increased by 218% since 2021 (Watford Borough Council) and last year over 344 people received expert care and support from New Hope’s crisis services. The people we help face a variety of challenges: hunger, hygiene, trauma, domestic violence, mental and physical health problems, addictions, learning difficulties, money problems, involvement in the criminal justice system, poor literacy, lack of healthy community, and immigration difficulties.
The Haven (also known locally as the day centre) is a safe place where the staff and volunteers gently build relationships of trust. Every person is known by name and treated with compassion. We meet people’s basic needs through hot meals, showers, clean clothes and toiletries – and then, once people are ready, we provide expert support (along with specialist partner agencies) to help people rapidly access appropriate accommodation.
