Help EdUKaid bring play-based early years education to children in rural Tanzania. Our Community Play Scheme and pre-primary programme support children aged 2–4, equip parents as first educators, and prepare young learners to thrive at school.

In rural Mtwara, Tanzania, there is almost no support for children under five. Many begin school without opportunities to play, socialise or develop early learning skills. In 2024, the government increased the pre-primary entry age from four to five, leaving an entire year group without provision. Children start school already behind, and teachers struggle to meet their needs. Early childhood is a critical window that cannot be repeated.
EdUKaid delivers a community-owned early years programme including a Community Play Scheme and a pre-primary satellite model reaching surrounding villages. Children aged 2–4 learn through play in safe, stimulating environments, while parents and volunteers receive training in play-based learning, safeguarding and positive parenting. The programme builds local capacity so communities can sustain and expand support for young children.
