Many limbless and injured veterans have multiple/complex needs and require long-term support to aid rehabilitation and recovery. According to a Blesma members’ survey, we know that 63% of veteran respondents struggle with mobility. Additionally, 85% in total have suffered with poor physical or mental health. They also struggle to access mainstream sports, recreational and family activities due to inaccessible venues/activities, lack of confidence and uncertainty about mobility and care needs.
Your donation will help provide a programme of c.8 national rehabilitative activities to help veterans & families. Accessible activities (family/couples’ weekends & adaptative sports/recreation days) will bring c.86 participants together veterans/families to share experiences, support one another & gain confidence after limb-loss/injury. With access to activities & ongoing support from Blesma, veterans will experience improved confidence; maintained/improved mobility & improve health/wellbeing.
