UK hospices are under pressure like never before. Surging costs have led to services being cut back just as demand is rising. 6 in 10 hospices are making cuts to frontline services and 450 beds were out of use in hospices across the UK last year. The situation is not sustainable.

Hospice care eases the physical and emotional pain of death and dying. Letting people focus on living, right until the end. Hospices care for 310,000 people each year and the number of people who need their care is increasing. Already nearly 1 in 3 people don’t get the care they need at the end of life. Hospices want to be there for everyone who needs them, but they’re underfunded, undervalued and under pressure. Cost pressures are forcing cuts to beds and community visits.
As the national champion for hospices, Hospice UK fights to make sure hospice care is there for everyone, from every background. We fight to make sure hospices can deliver the best, personalised care and thrive today and into the future. We represent more than 200 hospices across the UK. Our mission is to promote and protect hospice care for all who need it, for now and forever. We are lobbying governments across the UK to create a sustainable future for hospices.
