More young people in the Liverpool City Region struggle to access and understand creative career opportunities than in the South. In 2025, research found that some of the main barriers to roles for people aged 11-17 are self-belief, lack of clear career pathways, and training. Theatre engagement gives young people access to hundreds of jobs for every background. Without Shakespeare North, many young people in Knowsley will struggle to explore and secure these diverse career pathways.
Partnered with universities, schools, and the council, Shakespeare North creates opportunities for young people to discover careers in the creative industries. Opportunities across Marketing, Producing, and Technical provide real life skills, boost CVs, and build confidence. Our volunteer programme has progressed skill seekers to employees in a supportive social setting. Bursary places in our young company create opportunities to perform and be creative. Together we kickstart careers.
