Disabled people are often excluded from outdoor adventures. Research by the Family Fund found 61% of families couldn’t access activities because providers wouldn’t make adaptations, and 30% couldn’t afford the cost. This means they have fewer opportunities to experience the physical, mental and social benefits of outdoor recreation. 80% of disabled people want to be more active (Activity Alliance); Bendrigg provides inclusive opportunities so adventure and all its benefits can be for everyone.
Bendrigg makes adventure accessible for all. We subsidise booking costs to break down financial barriers. Our purpose-built facilities and specialist equipment at our centre in Cumbria mean everyone can join in with exciting outdoor activities like climbing, canoeing and caving. During their adventure, our disabled visitors build their self-confidence and independence, make friends, develop their skills and connect with nature. At Bendrigg, we break down barriers to turn “I can’t” into “I can”.
