Across the UK ill-health and loneliness is widespread, with the NHS being under significant pressure. In both urban and rural settings Parish Nursing Services respond to local health needs, meeting vulnerable people of all ages in community settings and their homes. Health conditions supported include high blood pressure and cholesterol, cancer, mental health support, babies and toddler early years well-being, addictions, elderly support, muscular conditions, end of life care and bereavement.
PNMUK provides support to Parish Nurses who are employed by, or volunteer with a local church or Christian organisation. This is done by ensuring: 1. Churches with Parish Nurses are supported well at every stage, from initial enquiry, service establishment, and their ongoing running; and 2. Nurses receive quality accredited training and supervisory support which meets the Nursing and Midwifery Council code of conduct and is committed to the highest professional practice.
