Rivers and streams are vital wildlife corridors, providing food, shelter and links to other habitats. Across our 3 counties, waterways range from the Nene Valley and Ouse Washes to the rare chalk streams of the Upper Cam. Your support can help keep them in the best condition for wildlife to thrive.

Our rivers, streams and waterways face many challenges, from pollution and over-abstraction to the loss of vital flood meadows, all harming the wildlife that depends on them. Many of our rivers have been altered over the years, reshaping their natural paths, resulting in changes to their flow and water quality so they no longer provide good wildlife habitats. Water voles, once common along riverbanks, have suffered a dramatic 95% decline in the last century due to habitat loss.
Nature is facing a crisis like never before. Your support can help nature recover through conservation action, engaging with local communities, and finding natural solutions to tackle the effects of climate change. From practical river improvements to engagement with landowners, healthy river ecosystems can be restored. Our programme of surveying and monitoring provides the science behind the work, assessing the actions needed and their impact on improving river health.
