Maternity discrimination is widespread and devastating. Pregnant women and new mothers frequently face poor and unlawful treatment from their employers, with many losing their jobs as a result. With Statutory Maternity Pay less than half the National Living Wage, many families find themselves pushed into poverty when they need security the most. Problems at work and financial worries cause high levels of stress which impact the physical and mental health of pregnant women and new mothers.

We provide free, specialist advice and casework, enabling pregnant women and new mothers to understand their rights, challenge unlawful treatment and secure their legal entitlements. Through free online information, phone and email, our legal team reaches over 2,000 women every year. Where possible, we support women to self-advocate and assert their rights. Where needed, we provide end-to-end casework and representation.
