The Great North Children’s Hospital is one of the largest children’s hospitals in the UK. We provide a full range of tailored children’s health services to young patients including thousands of children from the North East and Cumbria and those who travel across the country, and even the world.

Great North Children’s Hospital, part of Newcastle Hospitals Charity, supports the many children and families who come to our hospital for treatment and care. Our aim is to make their hospital experience as positive as possible. Hospitals can often feel overwhelming and unsettling particularly for our young patients. To address this, we fund a range of projects that create a more welcoming, child-friendly environment, tailored to meet the needs of children and their families.
We work with staff, patients and families to identify areas of importance to them. It can be something small like sensory equipment or something bigger like our arts programme. The main object for us is to help provide play opportunities and distraction for our patients who might be visiting us for the first time or perhaps be in for a longer stay. Either way we want to make them as comfortable as possible for what is often a very difficult time.
