Impact areas
Stroke is sudden, life‑changing and emotionally devastating. Survivors often face depression, anxiety and emotional instability, with Bristol data showing these are the most impactful post‑stroke conditions. 44% find it difficult to talk about their stroke and its effect. Many feel lonely, isolated and unable to cope. These psychological effects increase mortality, worsen recovery, limit social participation and reduce quality of life. Over half of younger survivors never emotionally recover.
We provide specialist emotional support to help stroke survivors rebuild confidence and wellbeing. Our counselling offers tailored therapeutic support, particularly for those experiencing higher levels of distress. We also run stroke support groups, creating safe social spaces that reduce isolation and build confidence, resilience and friendships.
