Hospice care across the UK critically underfunded, with only 40% of our services funded by local authority, we rely on the generosity of our community to support this shortfall. Research carried out by Hospice UK showed that every year, roughly 300,000 to 310,000 people in the UK receive palliative and end-of-life care from hospices. However, demand is growing rapidly due to an aging population, with demographic modelling suggesting that palliative care needs will increase by 25% to 47% by 2040.

We provide five core services, free of charge, to children and adults facing life limiting conditions across Teesside and Country Durham. This vital care includes dedicated inpatient units for both children and adults, a home care service, day services and bereavement counselling. Last year we delivered care to 2,730 patients and family members across our service areas of Teesside and County Durham. Additional income will support us in meeting the demand for our services within our communities.
