Critically endangered orangutans are the heart of Sumatra’s forests, helping nature flourish. As roads, farms and development break up their rainforest home, they struggle to find food, mates and safe passage. Help us protect and reconnect their canopy alongside local communities.

Fewer than 800 Tapanuli and 14,000 Sumatran orangutans remain. Their rainforest habitat is increasingly fragmented by agriculture, logging, and infrastructure development, leaving isolated populations unable to safely roam, feed, or breed. Without urgent intervention, these critically endangered great apes face local extinction. As they vanish, the vital rainforests they sustain lose the ecological engine protecting our planet from global climate breakdown.

Three integrated, proven approaches drive our strategy: • Secure Forest Rights: Supporting indigenous and local communities to gain legal recognition and long-term protection for their ancestral forests. • Reconnect Canopy: Installing and monitoring innovative canopy bridge networks to ensure safe wildlife movement. • Protect Habitat: Training and equipping community patrol teams to monitor forests, deter illegal activity, and respond rapidly to threats.
