Aspire’s Assistive Technology Programme works one to one with people who have limited or no use of their hands and arms due to a high level spinal cord injury, enabling them to independently use a phone, tablet or computer and supporting them on their journey from injury to independence.

Every two hours in the UK someone is paralysed by a Spinal Cord Injury. High level injuries can cause paralysis in the hands & arms, taking away not just physical function but independence, communication & control over daily life. People suddenly rely on others for even the simplest tasks - sending a message or making a call can become impossible without help. This loss of autonomy can deeply affect a person’s mental & physical health, quality of life & outlook on the future.
Supporting our campaign will help us give people with high-level spinal cord injuries immediate digital independence by teaching them how to access their phone, tablet, or computer. Support ranges from using built‑in accessibility tools like voice control to specialist equipment that tracks head or even eye movement. We show people what’s possible - reducing reliance on others for every small task and the feeling of isolation.
