Sport England’s latest Active Lives survey shows that only 40% of children from the most disadvantaged backgrounds meet recommended activity levels. Too many young people are missing out on the physical, mental and social benefits of sport and the gap between children from the most and least affluent families continues to widen.
Chance to Shine delivers free, weekly Street cricket clubs in under-served communities where young people face the greatest barriers to sport. No kit, no fees, no prior experience needed. Sessions run year-round in accessible local venues, led by trusted coaches representative of the communities they serve. Street cricket builds confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership, for many participants, it is their only regular sporting activity and strongest connection to their community.
