Young people’s bursaries for our creative programmes bring young people from across the country together to build their skills in listening to each other, speaking up and working in teams to tell stories: vital skills for whatever you want to do in life

Young people are increasingly unprepared for their futures, lacking the skills & resilience needed for employment & long-term personal wellbeing. They face a curriculum that doesn’t prepare them for the world of work & marginalises creative subjects, alongside increasing mental health issues exacerbated by social media, cuts to youth services & rising financial pressures. Those already furthest from opportunity & facing systemic & personal barriers are most affected.
Storytelling is good for you: creating & curating your own story, and listening to & reflecting on those of others, builds understanding & empathy. NYT supports young people to develop the skills, confidence & wellbeing for happy & successful futures. The NYT Bursary Fund helps eliminate financial barriers that prevent young people from accessing creative opportunities. We prioritise wellbeing inclusive practice throughout delivery, with targeted recruitment for those furthest from opportunity.
