Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) affects 1 in 50 people. It is a disabling preoccupation with perceived flaws in appearance causing severe emotional distress and shame. Around 30% of people with BDD will be housebound and 80% experience suicidal ideation. When unable to leave the house, or ashamed to share your experience, your chance of connecting with others, and hearing positive stories of recovery, is reduced. This podcast aims to provide a source of community, hope and connection.

The Beating BDD Podcast combats the isolation many in our community feel due to the severity, shame, and stigma of the condition. 68% of survey respondents report engaging with the podcast, but we're low on funds to produce more episodes. With consistently positive feedback, listeners feel less alone, more hopeful, connected and learn coping strategies. By sharing diverse stories of triumph, we can reach a global audience, demonstrating that recovery is absolutely possible.
