Tees Valley has some of the highest child poverty rates in the UK, limiting life chances from the start. Many young carers in the area remain unidentified and unsupported, while poor mental health and isolation are increasing. A lack of access to stable, well‑paid jobs keeps families trapped in hardship, making it harder for young people to break the cycle of poverty without the right support. This leaves many feeling unheard, excluded and without clear pathways to thrive.

The Junction tackles these challenges through six integrated work streams supporting children, young people and families. We improve mental health, support young carers, build confidence and skills, and open pathways to education, training and employment. Our Multibank provides essential goods to families in crisis, easing poverty pressures. By listening first, we deliver tailored support that reduces isolation, builds resilience and creates real opportunities for brighter futures.
