Many families with disabled members will sacrifice presents, festive food, heating or even seeing family at Christmas. In 2023, 1/3 of families cancelled Christmas as they couldn’t afford it (Sense). Scope reports the average family with a disabled child must find £581 more per month for the same standard of living as a family with a non-disabled child. In addition, 65% of people with disabilities said they experience ‘chronic loneliness’ compared to around 6% of the general population (Sense)

We provide short break provisions during the Christmas period, giving people with learning disabilities access to enriching, social activities away from home that combat loneliness, provide respite to family members, help them to celebrate Christmas in the community and make magical memories. We offer subsidised payments for families facing hardship. Every one of our members receives a Christmas gift they love. We run festive activities for carers and members, to relieve the threat of isolation
