At the Sweaty Betty Foundation, we believe girls are the experts in their own experiences. That's why we put girls' voices at the heart of everything we do. Change Starts in the Changing Room was created in response to a stark reality: 1 in 3 girls skip PE due to changing room anxiety. Through this girl-led project, girls identify barriers, design solutions, and create spaces that support their confidence and participation in physical activity.

When girls get active, they thrive. Yet by the age of 16, 64% of girls disengage from sport, seriously impacting their long-term physical and mental wellbeing. Poor facilities, lack of privacy, and negative experiences in changing rooms are holding girls back from being active. 1 in 3 say these experiences put them off PE entirely as they get older. Girls are not reaching their full potential - and their voices are missing from the solutions.
We will run a girl-led Changing Room Design Challenge, empowering girls to share their experiences and co-create solutions that get more girls active. Funds raised from this campaign support 3 schools directly, putting girls at the centre of designing improvements and influencing how schools and decision-makers respond. This equates to approximately 1500 girls supported - as well as thousands in future generations.
