Domestic abuse impacts one in four UK women (OFS, ‘24), yet access to vital mental health support is often out of reach. In 2025 London reported 93,189 domestic abuse cases, though fewer than 24% are officially recorded. Tragically more women now die by suicide after abuse than are murdered by a partner (NPCC, ‘24), one woman takes her life every week. Survivors surveyed in 2023 by the DAC’s Office identified the need for counselling and mental health support as two of their top three needs.
Woman’s Trust was established in 1996 to address the gap in mental health support for women affected by domestic abuse. We provide free, women-only, therapeutic services in London. Our BACP accredited services help women overcome the psychological harm caused by domestic abuse and rebuild their lives. Our counsellors provide tailored, trauma-informed services designed to meet each woman's unique needs, fostering healing and resilience. This approach has been proven most effective for survivors.
