Young people in a homelessness crisis struggle to sustain accommodation, engage in education or employment, or develop healthy relationships. The Big Give Christmas Campaign allows Open Homes to secure core costs while developing the emotional‑wellbeing support young people need to succeed.

When young people are made homeless they face many barriers due to their youth, inexperience and lack of resources. They are often isolated from families and do not fully understand the systems they must engage with. We have seen an increase in young people being made homeless from Home Office accommodation, who, when granted leave to remain are evicted immediately. Being made unexpectedly homeless affects study and work, creating a negative spiral that leads to further dropout and instability.
For nearly 20 years, Open Homes has ensured that young people are kept safe from sleep rough when they have nowhere to go. Through Nightstop, young people are welcomed into the homes of trained volunteer hosts who provide a bed, food, warmth, and human connection at a moment of crisis. Open Homes also now provides 'Support Pathways' focusing on, Foundations, Education, Employment, Mental Health, and Socialisation. Young people need more than emergency accommodation to overcome homelessness.
