Aurelia and Aurora were inseparable twins who shared laughter, adventures and dreams – and sadly the same life-shortening heart condition. When Aurelia died at just eight years old, Julia’s House continued to be a lifeline for Aurora and her family, providing care, comfort and joyful moments.

Nothing can prepare a family for hearing the devastating news their child has a life-shortening condition. Their child will have complex needs, require 24-hour care and may not live until adulthood. It’s a life-changing moment and families are often left exhausted, isolated and struggling to cope. The whole family needs dedicated expert and compassionate care, especially when their child is at the end of their life and beyond with bereavement support.

Julia’s House provides specialist respite and end of life care to the most seriously ill children in Dorset and Wiltshire, and their families. Our dedicated team of nurses and carers provide essential respite breaks at home or in our hospices, giving children the fun and friendship of childhood while exhausted parents have precious time to rest and recharge. The whole family – parents, siblings and grandparents - are also regularly supported with events, therapies and counselling sessions.
