Govan has one of the lowest life expectancies in the UK. Since 2010, Craft Café has been providing support to tackle poverty, loneliness, and a lack of agency for older people in the area. 56% of participants live in the lowest 20% SIMD data zones, where there are few community activities for their age group that aren't an hour of bingo. Running year round, 3 days a week, Craft Café creates a sense of purpose and supports good health and independence for longer.

The key aim of Impact Arts, and Craft Café, is ensuring access to the arts for the most disadvantaged, addressing common challenges experienced by those living in poverty through: - Improving people’s health and wellbeing: engaging in creativity has been shown to be effective in the management and prevention of health conditions and illness. - Connecting communities: reducing social isolation; renewing pride in where they live; and ensuring individuals have a voice and agency.
