Demand for domestic abuse support services remains high with there being an estimated 71,818 incidents of domestic abuse across Greater Manchester in 2025-26 (ONS). Meanwhile, 2 in 3 refuge referrals were rejected due to a lack of bed space (Women’s Aid). Following this, women turn to rough sleeping, return to their abuser, sofa-surf or are unable to afford essentials to survive. We believe that everyone deserves to have a safe place to call home and access the support they need.

Across Manchester, we operate 33 bed spaces for single women and families fleeing high-risk, high-harm domestic abuse. During their stay, we provide a trauma informed environment that enables them to heal from their experiences, access support, attend groupwork, connect with others and rebuild their lives. We want to safeguard the delivery of one of these bed spaces for the next 12 months. It costs us £40 a night, £1,217 a month or £14,600 a year to allow us to do this.
