Every day, communities are overwhelmed by waste. More than 330 million tonnes of plastic are produced worldwide each year and most is never recycled. But the crisis is wider, including organic waste that spreads disease and methane, and e‑waste leaking toxic metals into soil and water. While this pollution is out of sight for many, the poorest communities confront it every day as weak waste systems leave waste accumulating, dumped or burned, driving inequality and serious health risks.
WasteAid creates innovative projects in countries with little or no waste management infrastructure. We work with communities to build practical, sustainable solutions for plastic, organic and electronic waste. By treating waste as a resource and source of income, we help people develop green businesses that reuse and recycle local materials. This delivers a double benefit: reducing pollution and supporting fair, resilient livelihoods in poorer regions.
