Street‑connected and homeless children in Kolkata are among India’s most vulnerable, living on the margins of society without basic rights, protection, or legal identity. This leaves them highly exposed to abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This project will help them access safety, education, healthcare, social entitlements, and skills training – critical support that can break deep cycles of poverty and give them a chance at a safer and brighter future.
The Child Watch project, launched in 2004, reduces the severe vulnerabilities of street-connected and slum dwelling children by improving their access to education, healthcare, job skills training and social entitlements. It also ensures involvement of parents and the community in understanding the importance of supporting the children’s education and creates a child-friendly and safe environment at community level to enable children to grow into confident adults with high self -esteem.
