No child should grow up needlessly blind. Yet, too many children like Nadiah lose their sight, not because they cannot be treated, but because they are poor. Our sight-saving work brings hope to people living in the world’s poorest places, enabling them to see clearly and live their best lives.

Nadiah is one of two surviving triplets, born to parents in rural Zimbabwe. Her little life has been a struggle from the start. Having survived premature birth, she then developed cataracts in both eyes. Struggling to respond to a world that she could not see, her development suffered. Her parents sought help before it was too late. But there is no specialist eyecare in rural Zimbabwe, and the nearest help was far away in the city. Without CBM’s support, Nadiah would have grown up sightless.
Three out of four people who are blind don’t need to be. For people living in the world’s poorest places, accessing eye health care is the difference between learning to read, or facing a lifetime of illiteracy; between earning a living or depending on others. Providing equipment, screening and training makes that difference possible. Timely surgery saved Nadiah’s sight, so that she could thrive alongside her brother. Your donation could make a life-changing difference for others like Nadiah.
