We lose one young person to suicide where technology plays a role every week. This is preventable. Molly Rose Foundation works to build a safer online world through campaigning for change, building evidence against harmful tech and educating professionals and families to keep children safe online.

Molly Russell died after being exposed to excessive amounts of harmful content online. 9 years on, a survey carried out shows that over a third of children had seen high risk suicide, self-harm, depression or eating disorder content in the previous week on social media. With new social media rules coming into force that may reduce access to some platforms, the risks to children remain acute as many will continue to use high-risk sites, social media, and gaming platforms that are unregulated.

With the right education and support in place tech-facilitated suicide and self-harm is preventable. We produce practical guidance for families so they can navigate online safety changes and help their children to build digital resilience. We also provide tools for families to keep conversations open, supportive and judgement-free so that children know where to turn for help if they need it. By building digital skills and awareness in families we can keep children safer online.
