We provide bespoke early intervention support to families in Hillingdon who are struggling with parenting at the intersection of multiple disadvantage: among the 160 families referred to us last year, 89% reported struggling with mental health, 68% were experiencing isolation, and 32% were lone parents. Evidence from Public Health England demonstrates that such problems can impact parental-bonding which can lead to poorer health, social development & educational outcomes for children.
We provide 6 months of 1:1 volunteer support, aimed at improving areas of family life which the family deems most challenging. Our proven approach helps by: increasing parents’ confidence and resilience, providing support to access the resources around them, and enabling families to become connected within their community. This critical support during their children’s most formative years helps families transition from surviving to thriving: last year, 98% reported coping better after support.
