A large majority of our students come from deprived backgrounds (50% are eligible for Free School Meals v a national average of 25%), so neither they nor the school can fund many enrichment activities. Many have low expectations of their academic potential, limited life experiences and challenging home environments.

Our mission is to broaden the horizons and raise the aspirations of the 1,280 pupils at the school, through the development and funding of educational enrichments in sports, performing & creative arts, wellbeing and life skills with the aim of increasing their future life opportunities. Programmes include rowing, overseas trips, music tuition, wellness projects, theatre visits, breakfast club, a literary festival and a glee-type choir. 80% of our pupils benefit from KIT-funded programmes.
