Refugees and people seeking asylum in Devon face overwhelming challenges – often navigating an unfamiliar language, systems, and cultures while surviving on minimal support. Many arrive having fled conflict or persecution, yet find themselves isolated and unsure where to turn. Without the right help, even basic needs can go unmet, making it incredibly difficult to feel safe, rebuild, and begin again with dignity.
Founded 25 years ago as simply, neighbours helping neighbours, Refugee Support Devon (RSD) supports people seeking safety across Devon. We provide essential items, trusted advice, and practical support, from food and clothing to enrolling children in school. We also offer free, accredited immigration advice, helping people navigate the asylum process and start to rebuild their lives. We offer a warm, Devon welcome to people who faced the unimaginable. This is what community looks like.
