In Hampshire 19.8% of school-aged children have additional needs (Department for Education, 2025). These include physical and mental health, learning, and undiagnosed needs.Families struggle to access public health services, with long delays experienced (often exceeding a year) and cannot afford private health care. Without access to the right support children may not reach their full potential and families may experience isolation because of the barriers their children’s needs present.

Growing Hope Solent provides free therapy for children and young people within the Solent area, including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and counselling. We also run groups for parents and siblings to process their experiences of living with a child with additional needs. Parents are present in all therapy sessions and are equipped with tools and strategies to help children and young people to thrive after the therapy sessions have ended.
