Without early screening, many children with deafblindness remain unidentified and miss out on vital support. We partner with governments to build sustainable vision and hearing screening services and early intervention programmes that help children develop, communicate and thrive.

Children with deafblindness are among the most excluded in the world, yet many of the estimated 160 million people affected by deafblindness are never identified or supported. Without access to hearing and vision screening, children are often missed entirely. In low-resource settings, health systems frequently lack the specialist skills, equipment and referral pathways needed for early intervention, leaving children isolated and unable to reach their potential.
Our approach focuses on early identification and intervention. We partner with governments to improve hearing and vision screening services, train frontline health workers to recognise deafblindness, and provide specialist multi-sensory therapy and early intervention for children so they can have the best start in life. We also work closely with parents and caregivers, equipping them with practical skills and the confidence to support their child’s development at home and in everyday life.
