We would like to provide a fortnightly group of approx. 20 mothers of children with SEND to create art and crafts. This will enable those present to get a little bit of ‘me time’ whilst being surrounded by people who understand the impacts upon family life that supporting a child with SEND has.

Unless a SEND diagnosis is evident from birth, many families struggle to obtain a diagnosis for a child. After the diagnosis though we at Let US Play understand that families are left in shock, with a diagnosis but little understanding of what this means in reality going forward and how best to support their child. Many parents who have a child with SEND find it socially isolating, often their family or friends do not understand what this means in reality, so their support network is impacted.
We would like to provide 26 sessions a year of a variety of craft and art activities with lunch where these families can work together to make interesting things and gain new skills whilst offering each other support, knowledge and advice. Children are bussed to and from the most appropriate school for their child’s needs which is chosen by the local authority. This means that many parents do not get to interreact with or meet the parents of the other children in their class which is isolating
