Women primarily enter the criminal justice system due to vulnerabilities including domestic or sexual abuse, poverty, mental ill-health, and substance misuse. Unlike men, female offending is often driven by coercive relationships and financial desperation to support dependents, resulting in non-violent, low-level offences. Employment is a route out of this trap, offering hope, purpose and financial independence. Without timely support, women will be pushed further into hardship and reoffending.

Your donation will provide one-to-one personalised support to women to improve their employability and life prospects. We identify their skills and career ambitions and create a plan to harness them, build women’s confidence and self-belief, alongside practical support with CVs, interview techniques and disclosing convictions. We also work directly with employers to encourage them to look beyond someone’s past and focus on their skills and potential.
