Too many children, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, are missing out on the physical, social and emotional benefits of sport. Only 40% of children from the most disadvantaged backgrounds meet recommended activity levels. Chance to Shine's tackles this directly, using cricket to get children active, build confidence, resilience and teamwork, and develop a lasting relationship with physical activity particularly in schools with high free school meal eligibility.

Our qualified coaches deliver a six-week cricket programme in primary schools, aligned to the national PE curriculum and underpinned by Association for Physical Education (afPE) accredited inclusive principles. We train teachers to deliver cricket independently after our coaches leave. 98% of teachers rate sessions as active, safe, inclusive and fun, while they score our impact on confidence, teamwork and enjoyment of sport at over 8.7/10.
