Supporting national efforts to eradicate violence against women and girls. In the year ending March 2025 one in eight women in England and Wales experience domestic abuse, sexual assault or stalking. 39% of 13–17-year-olds who have been in a relationship in the past year experienced emotional or physical abuse. In Avon and Somerset 20% of all the force's work is domestic abuse related. The physical and mental harm of abuse can affect every area of women and girls lives and cause lifelong harm.
Prevention - delivering domestic abuse awareness training and healthy relationships workshops in schools and communities to tackle misogyny, challenge harmful attitudes and equip people to create safer environments. Supporting survivors - counselling, advocacy, safe accommodation and children's services provide vital lifelines for victims and survivors. Last year we supported nearly 7,000 adult survivors and over 700 children to help with their recovery towards a life free from violence and abuse.
