Every day women lose their jobs for becoming mothers. Our 2026 State of the Nation survey shows 73% have experienced pregnancy or maternity discrimination. 5 years after a first child, mothers' earnings are 42% lower, a cumulative loss of £65,618. Meanwhile, 36% are cutting spending on essentials to cover childcare costs. Most face this alone, unsure of their rights and too exhausted to fight back. This is the motherhood penalty. It is not inevitable. Pregnant Then Screwed was created to end it.

Only 3.5% of those who experience discrimination raise a tribunal claim, deterred by stress, confusion and cost. PTS exists to change that. Our Advice Line, Tribunal Mentor Programme and online resources give parents the support they need. What women tell us feeds our evidence base; the evidence informs our campaigns; the campaigns drive policy change, pushing for fairer parental leave, better childcare and stronger protections. In 2026, that work delivered a day-one right to paternity leave.
