Domestic and sexual abuse and violence are pervasive issues in England and Wales, with most crimes hidden and unreported. In Brighton and Hove alone in 23/24 there were 5,130 domestic abuse crimes and incidents and 1,209 recorded sexual violence and abuse offenses. According to the National Domestic Abuse Commissioner, 67% of survivors in Sussex did not get specialist support for their children and just over 50% who wanted advocacy support did not get it.
RISE will use the funds raised to ensure continuous support for women and girls in crisis. Including counselling, casework services, groups and therapeutic welling sessions both expert staff and volunteers will help survivors regain safety and control, reduce waitlists for therapeutic services, and focus on early intervention to mitigate the long-term impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Our goal is to walk together with women and their children towards safety and recovery.
