Our campaign will transform refuge rooms into warm, comforting havens where women and children who have escaped domestic abuse can begin to heal. By improving their immediate environment, we will help families rebuild, recover and rediscover hope during a time of crisis and change.

Women and children escaping abuse often arrive with nothing, carrying fear, trauma, and deep uncertainty. Our refuge spaces, while safe, are in urgent need of revitalisation to truly support healing. Much of the furniture—donated or sourced second-hand—is heavy, worn and impractical, offering little storage. These bulky pieces limit our ability to adapt rooms, making it harder to create comfortable, flexible spaces that meet the changing needs of different families at a critical time.

We will transform our refuge through thoughtful refurbishment, using calming colours, fresh paint and soft furnishings to create warm, welcoming spaces. Improvements to lighting, adding practical storage and introducing flexible, family-friendly furniture will help to create rooms that feel safe, comfortable and nurturing. These changes will also help our Refuge team to maintain our spaces, ensuring every room continues to feel welcoming and ready for the next family in need
