In 2025, there were a total of 1706 RASSO (Rape and Serious Sexual Offences) reported to Dorset Police. Of these, 642 rapes and 653 sexual assaults were committed against women and girls — 76% of the total incidents reported. The impact of sexual violence and abuse often leaves survivors with life-altering trauma and symptoms such as flashbacks, dissociation, and panic attacks that untreated can severely limit them from living a happy, fulfilling life.

STARS Dorset provides person-centred, trauma-informed services free-of-charge for survivors of sexual violence and abuse, creating a space for them to feel heard and supported; our mission is to ensure all survivors are supported on their journey of recovery from trauma. Our Engagement Team also work within the community to raise awareness of the impact of abuse and the importance of consent, including education around recognising/managing harmful sexual behaviours in children and young people.
