Women make up 43% of the agricultural workforce in sub-Saharan Africa. They provide much of the labour needed to plant, harvest and sell food - while also managing households. Yet, despite their central role, women routinely lack secure access to land, struggle to obtain quality seeds, fertiliser and modern farming tools, and are excluded from training and markets. The result is a damaging cycle of lost harvests, food insecurity and deepening poverty. But this cycle can be broken.

We will support women farmers by increasing access to savings groups, affordable finance, and financial literacy, helping them save, invest, and plan with confidence. Our work is making a real difference for women like Bertha, a Malawian mother of four who joined a savings group with which she now saves regularly and has accessed loans to expand her rice business. Now, her goal is for her family to live comfortably and for women in her community to achieve financial independence and confidence.
