We’ve purchased our long-standing home at 30 Chaucer Street! This is a major milestone in our herstory and secures our future as a vital space for women. Our listed city centre building has served as our hub for the past forty years. Be part of our journey and make this centre more accessible.

We have issues with accessibility and outdated facilities. 1 in 5 women experience mental health issues, and younger women are at greater risk of self-harm. Women’s experiences of trauma, domestic abuse and sexual violence are directly linked to mental ill health. NWC provides a safe space for all self-identifying women to access support for trauma, isolation and advice. Acquiring the building is huge milestone, but it is old and in a poor state, and there is a long way to go to improve it.
Our service puts women at the centre of our work, ensuring they are valued, empowered and heard. The next stage in our journey is designing our future home: modernising in a way that increases our reach and impact and protects our historic building from further decline. Our building is listed with a longstanding community heritage. This match funding will help to address some access problems and additionally demonstrate that support for the next for the next stage is broad and benefits many.
