Our historic four-storey building isn’t fully accessible, which means some women can’t easily reach all the spaces, services, and activities available here. This week, your donation can help us on the way to changing that – and every £1 will be doubled by Big Give. If we can raise £5,000 together, Big Give will donate another £5,000. That means £10,000 towards improving access for women in Nottingham. The money raised will fund vital early-stage engineering design and planning work for a future lift plus improvements to our toilet facilities. This is part of our long-term plan to create a Centre where more women can move around independently, access more of what we offer, and feel fully included.

Our building has four floors, no lift, and crumbling toilets. Women who need step-free access can reach some parts of the Centre, but not all of them. Now that we own our home at 30 Chaucer Street, we can finally start changing that – but because the building is Grade II listed, we need a specialist to complete architectural and engineering design and planning work before accessibility improvements can begin.
The money raised this week will go directly towards paying for toilet upgrades and specialist architectural and engineering design and planning work. We can’t install a lift in our listed building in the future without this work being completed first. And during this week, every £1 donated becomes £2 while match funding is available.
