AWA DANCE is a Birmingham-based charity using dance to develop leadership, confidence and wellbeing in women and girls aged 13–21. We deliver workshops, festivals and safeguarding training that create lasting change, for participants, their communities, and the wider dance sector.

Women and girls, especially those from low-income, ethnically diverse and disabled communities, face compounding barriers to participation in dance and leadership. Only 8% of girls aged 11–18 meet recommended activity levels. Sector spaces often fail to reflect their identities or keep them safe. Without organisations that centre girls' voices and wellbeing, the pipeline of confident, creative female leaders remains broken.

AWA DANCE delivers dance and leadership workshops for girls aged 13–21, a biannual Girls in Dance Festival, and the UK's first CPD-accredited safeguarding training designed specifically for girls. Our programmes build confidence, develop leadership skills, and create visible role models. We work with schools, youth organisations and sector partners to reach those most underserved, ensuring access is never determined by background or means.
